Mile-End School historically served the Midstocket area of Aberdeen City. Beechwood School, which was located on our current site, was a special school for children with additional support needs. In April 2010 the two schools amalgamated and now deliver high quality inclusive education in a wonderful purpose-built building. As a school community we are all excited about the opportunities this unique model offers and continue to work in partnership with you to make our inclusive aspirations a reality.
Nursery runs four sessions, two in the morning and two in the afternoon. Each session has places for twenty children.
We have approximately 470 primary pupils within 15 primary classes and 7 additional support needs classes sited side by side. This positioning allows our pupils to collaborate and foster positive peer relationships.
We have over 30 permanent teachers including a Support for Learning Teacher (SLT) who helps ensure that all children receive appropriate support and challenge. We have visiting specialist teachers of P.E., music and drama and access to a range of gifted musicians who teach our pupils to play a variety of instruments.
We are fortunate to employ skilled Early Years Practitioners and Pupil Support Assistants who are deployed on a needs basis throughout the school. Their support is invaluable in helping us meet individual needs.
The school is very well resourced with a high spec gym, astro turf and dedicated kitchen/lunch hall providing nutritious meals for the children at lunchtime.
We take pride in delivering innovative approaches to learning to engage and challenge our pupils.
