Our School
MILE-END SCHOOL Mile-End School caters for children from Nursery to Primary 7. It is co-educational and non denominational. We serve an area at the west end of Aberdeen City comprising both council and private housing. The school was opened as a primary school in 1903 and is traditionally constructed of Aberdeen granite. All teaching areas within the main building are contained in one four-storey building built round a central open area. The school roll stands at present at four hundred and seventy. The school comprises four departments
The Nursery consists of two nursery classes, Ladybirds and Sunflowers, an outdoor play area, staffroom and storage space. In the main building there are twenty self-contained rooms, which are used as follows 15 Classrooms 1 I.C.T. Room 1 Junior / Senior library 1 Infant Library 1 Music Room 1 General Purposes Room The central open area - known as the Infant Hall - is used by all pupils as a practical activity area where social as well as educational skills can be developed. We have a well-equipped gymnasium, which is also used for drama, assemblies and meetings. Its overall size, however, can limit our range of activities. The school was inspected in 1996.
